Yoga is nourishing to practice in silence. Either practicing inside or outside listening to nature as she leads you into the sounds of silence.
However sometimes practicing to music is just what the doctor ordered. Music is very healing. Music can bring a smile to your face, get your toes tapping, it can move you to tears, it can help release pent up anger and frustration as you belt out your tune along with your favourite song and it can inspire you.
Music can also be deeply nurturing to practice your yoga.
Forget about what you ‘should’ look like, honour your injuries( as I have to) and respect your capabilities, and just start to move to your chosen music. Your breath will slow and deepen, and after a while your breath will actually start to move you, you will move into stillness.
You will feel calmer and more centered when you step off your mat.
